About the event

This event is a benefit for the Santa Cruz Community Health Center

The Santa Cruz Community Health Center faces unprecedented challenges due to the anticipated enormous federal spending cuts and Executive Orders threatening their funding, the vital services the Santa Cruz Health Center provides to thousands of local families. The health center believes, as anyone with a heart does, that healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. The proposed cuts would devastate their ability to serve those who need them most—immigrant families seeking preventive care and chronic disease management, transgender individuals in need of affirming, specialized care, and many others.

Poets from Santa Cruz and Monterey will read from the anthology Women in a Golden State, edited by Chryss Yost and Diana Raab. Ellen Bass headlines the event,  along with poets Terri Drake, Nancy Fowler, Teri Ketchi, Veronica Kornberg,

Jennifer Lagier, Ruth Mota, Dion O’Reilly, Linda Serrato and Patrice…
